The upcoming Sustainability Committee Meeting will focus on the crucial role of Organic Waste Treatment in river preservation.

In the Philippines, the management of organic waste is tied to the preservation and well-being of our river ecosystems. As the population grows and urbanization advances, the improper handling of organic waste, encompassing food remnants and agricultural byproducts, poses a substantial threat to the rivers. Key challenges include a need for widespread awareness and insufficient infrastructure for the comprehensive management of organic waste. Nevertheless, local communities have been adopting practical methods, such as composting, to mitigate the proliferation of organic waste.

NordCham has invited John Rey Dañgilan, Jr., Head of Business Development and Marketing & Communications at Artelia Philippines, Inc., and Daniel Scheler, Project Manager Philippines at One Earth - One Ocean.

John Rey will discuss Artelia's project in Pasay, focusing on waste management from Pasay City to Pasig River. He will address the challenges and expectations associated with stakeholder involvement. Additionally, he will cover their study on recycling plastic waste from Pasig River and the sustainable design and installation of an organic waste treatment facility.
