The topic of the 2nd Sustainability Committee meeting will be on targets and implementation of sustainability into the organization.
Thank you to our business partners that were able to help generate the topics and highlight the challenges they face with sustainability. Based on the talks at the launch of the committee, many business partners are facing issues when it comes to the initial first steps that can be overwhelming. What should the organization focus on? How can the targets be tailored to your organization? Carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions? Waste reduction and circularity? Gender equality and fair compensation? Human rights and social impact?
On May 18 we will have a presentation on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, which is a comprehensible framework for sustainability implementation and reporting. The GRI standards provide a good starting point for businesses that are unsure how to start, as the GRI standards can be tailored to the specific business context, while still being comprehensive. Furthermore, reporting with the GRI standards can be tied to the Sustainable Development Goals (Brief explanation of GRI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LkrhalWIMc).
The speaker will be Jonas Marie Dumdum, Consultant under the Industry Solutions Consulting (ISC) sector for Nomura Research Institute Singapore Pte. Ltd. (NRISG) Manila Branch. Mr. Dumdum has extensive experience working with publicly-listed companies in the Philippines on how to improve their sustainability journey through reporting, analysis, and strategy formation, and will share with us his insights on sustainability and GRI reporting. Mr. Dumdum's presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Afterwards, there will be 45 min. brainstorming session for participants to share their learnings and their practices with sustainability implementation and reporting.
To start the sustainability journey or to firmly implement it in your organisation, it is important to have overview and guidance to see impact from your efforts. Join us in person at Spaces, World Plaza in BGC on May 18, 4:00 PM -6:00 PM, for a presentation on the GRI standards and how to implement sustainability in practice.
