The 9th Sustainability Committee Meeting will focus on ways businesses can support sustainable transportation.

The pandemic has caused a change in how people move in the Philippines. As the country transitions into a "better normal," citizens want a holistic strategy representing ecologically sustainable transportation incorporated into an integrated system. According to the Urban Mobility Readiness Index 2022, Metro Manila is ranked 58th in Urban Mobility Readiness, 48th in Sustainable Mobility, and 56th for Public transit - out of 60 countries studied based on factors of the public transit system, road transport, accessibility, and waiting time. Despite the nation's low rating, cooperation between the public and private sectors has been a top priority for modernization and sustainable mobility. These strategies and projects envision a cleaner, safer, more accessible, cheaper, and more efficient Philippine transportation system, resulting in a more environmentally and socially friendly environment for Filipinos.

We have invited Mr. Rommel Gavieta, former DOTr Undersecretary for Planning, Engr. Rhea Buñao, Product Marketing Specialist at ABB, and Mr. Joachim "Chim" Josue, Business Development Manager at Autodelta Coach Builders, Inc (Volvo Buses).

Mr. Rommel will tackle sustainable infrastructure and transportation planning in Mega-Metro Manila.

Mr. Chim will discuss the second layer of mass transit, followed by a transit-oriented development approach to a sustainable transportation system. Volvo will also provide perspective on car users' shift to using buses.

Each presentation will be followed by a Q&A. Afterwards, there will be 1-hour facilitated brainstorming session for participants to share their experiences and perspectives on sustainable transportation.

Then join us in person at IWG Spaces, World Plaza in BGC on February 22, 2023 (Wednesday) from 3:30 – 6:00 PM to obtain concrete ideas and ways to adapt sustainable transportation, with presentations from DOTr, ABB, and Volvo.
