Event Details

It is undeniable that the evolution of the media is quite interesting. From print, then comes the radio, television, and the internet. These are the various forms of mass media that influence our lives in one way or the other.

With the advent of technology, many people ask, is print media dying? How about the other form of media such as broadcast, outdoor and digital media? What will be their future? Which is the best platform to promote your business? How about the influencers and the journalists, are they different? How do you deal with hostile media? What should you do to get your story published? How do you deal with fake news? Why ad spending on online/new-media is on pace to outgrow TV ad spending for the first time in history?

Find out more about the dynamics of media on 30March 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM as Monsi Serrano joins us as our speaker for this virtual event.

About the Speaker

Monsi Alfonso Serrano is the Founder and CEO of The Philippine Business and News (THEPHILBIZNEWS), a Facebook Page he created in 2010 and continued to manage even when he was still living in the US and then later on in Canada, where he and his family migrated. Then, in 2018, when he decided to stay in the Philippines for good, he incorporated THEPHILBIZNEWS, which Wikipedia describes as "one of the new players in the online news portal" in the context of Filipino readers turning to alternative news sources because of the proliferation of disinformation and fake news. It wrote that The Philippine Business and News "tackles diplomatic and business news from foreign chambers and embassies, and also business stories of start-ups as well as micro, small and medium enterprises in the Philippines."

Monsi is the first recipient of the International PEACE (People's Empowerment for the Advancement of Communities and Environment) 2015 as the Best Blogger Award (The Philippine Business and News) given by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). He was the Chief Correspondent for Philippine News of Kabayan Weekly, the first Filipino Newspaper in Dubai since its inception in 2011. He became the special correspondent for Filipino Reporter in New York and later became a columnist in Manila Mail US, an online publication in Washington, DC.

He is also one of the winners of the 20th Henry Ford Awards for his automotive column: "Driving Our Agnes in the Time of COVID", his family's struggle with his daughter Agnes, a down syndrome during the lockdown.
