The 10th Sustainability Committee Meeting will focus on ways businesses can support Nutrition and Health Education.

The Philippines faces various health and nutrition challenges ­­– limited access to nutritious food, lack of awareness and education on healthy lifestyle habits, and poverty, which limits people's ability to access healthcare and nutritious food. Likewise, the Philippine government has established an agency to oversee and implement nutrition programs and policies to reduce malnutrition. Additionally, the government has spearheaded various programs to improve Filipinos' nutrition and health awareness, particularly in the school setting. Meanwhile, private companies have also played a crucial role in promoting nutrition and health education through conducting research and providing education and training to their employees to promote healthy lifestyle choices and to teach them how to prepare healthy meals for their families.

Despite these initiatives, malnutrition remains a significant problem in the Philippines. To address this, the public and private sectors must continue to work together to implement adequate nutrition and health education programs that are accessible and sustainable to help prevent diseases, increase productivity, and improve the quality of life for individuals and their families.

We have invited Mr. Allan Hansen, Managing Director of Arla Foods, Dr. Cyrus Q. Pasamba, Senior Medical Manager - Obesity & Rare Disease at Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals (Philippines), Inc., and Ms. Abelyn "Apple" F. Evangelista, Head of Sustainability and Social Responsibility at Globe Telecom, to speak.

Mr. Hansen will share about dairy's role in sustainable diet.

Dr. Pasamba will talk about Novo Nordisk's program on obesity and healthy living and discuss their NovoHealth program for their employees.

Ms. Evangelista will discuss Globe Group's Health Tech, EduTech, and Sustainability Strategies.

Each presentation will be followed by a Q&A. Afterwards, there will be 1-hour facilitated brainstorming session for participants to share and make informed about health and wellbeing.

We invite healthcare professionals, educators, sustainability leaders, and like-minded individuals to promote good health and nutrition. Join us in person at IWG Spaces, World Plaza in BGC on 29 March 2023 (Wednesday) from 3:30 – 6:00 PM to obtain concrete ideas and raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and health education, with presentations from Arla Foods and Novo Nordisk.

We usually have between 20-30 attendees representing large companies, e.g., BDO, AstraZeneca, Converge, SN Aboitiz Power, Arla Foods, etc.
